Shout® Tips & Tricks
Making a mess is fun when you can remove the stain afterwards.
As a general rule of thumb, wash your clothes in the warmest water the fabric will accept. However, this doesn’t mean every fabric should be washed in hot water. In fact, some fabrics only accept cold water—so make sure to pay attention to the label at hand! And go ahead and get messy: Shout® products are designed to be safe for all colorfast washables and works in all water temperatures.
The longer a stain remains untreated on fabric, the harder it will be to remove. Act fast and you’ll have better results. But even if you can’t wash right away, Shout® has you covered.
If a stain occurs away from home it can still be removed! Shout® Wipe & Go are meant to be used on the go. Tuck one in your bag and if you spill red wine at a restaurant, you’ll be in luck.
Even when you’re at home you may not have time to wash your clothes right away, but it’s still best to treat stains immediately. Simply apply your favorite Shout® stain remover product and let it sit on the fabric until you wash.
Keeping your whites bright is quite the challenge, especially when faced with a stain on your white shirt. Use our stain removal guide to treat blood, red wine, grease stains and more.
And you know what they say about an ounce of prevention. Protect your whites from damaging color bleeds with every wash. Shout® Color Catcher Dye-Trapping Sheet absorbs and traps loose dyes in your wash water, protecting your white clothes from dangerous color bleeds—preserving the original bright white color. Plus, you’ll save time and money: there’s no need to sort out your load by color or do half loads of laundry.
Removing heavy-duty stains requires using the right products. Stubborn set-in stains need a little more treatment than the average stain—so we suggest trying Shout® Advanced Action Gel. Its super-concentrated gel is specifically formulated to tackle those stubborn, set-in stains.
And for a little extra stain-fighting power, try using Shout® Advanced Ultra Concentrated Gel Brush. It combines powerful Shout® stain fighters in a thick gel formula with a convenient stain-lifting brush to remove those tough set-in stains a little easier—like dirt, grease, oil, blood, chocolate, or red wine.
We all fear the red t-shirt that turns the whole wash load pink. Avoid laundry mishaps by conducting a colorfast test.
First, check the label. Clothing labels that read "wash separately," "wash in cold water," "hand wash," "do not use detergent" or "turn inside out to launder" may indicate that the dyes in these items are not colorfast and may bleed onto other garments in the wash.
Then, conduct your colorfast test:
- Soak an inconspicuous corner of the material in a cup of warm water and a teaspoon of detergent.
- Wait for two to three minutes (less time for pre-treatment stain removers; follow instructions on the product label).
- Then, blot with a white paper towel. If the colors do not change, run, or come off on the paper towel, and if the item is definitely washable, you may safely use Shout® stain remover products.
Also, avoid trouble before it starts with Shout® Color Catcher Dye-Trapping Sheet. They absorb and trap loose dyes in your wash water, protecting lighter colored clothes from dangerous color bleeds.
